With opening round in the books, it is time to give our history links to the games. We loved what and who we saw in the Swans 150th celebrations, The lions and Blues played a cracker. The Suns make a pleasing start to life with their new coach and the Giants are very impressive, as was their social media. We also preview all of round 1. It’s good to be back!

It's that time of year where we once again pivot from foussing on the year by year goings on in the VFL, to trying to connect with the current 2024 season. Each week we will try to give connections between today's game and past. Looking at the history when things have happened before, looking at the trends and the story lines.

1987 is a big year of change for the VFL, with the introduction of the Eagles and the Bears. We also mix things up by beginning our yearly focus talking about round 22 and the battle to qualify for finals. We also get into the rumours about Collingwood, the Saints turnaround (led by Lockett) and the success of the Eagles in the West!
