On the 1942 season episode, things have changed for the league due to the war. The league looks a bit different this year with Geelong unable to compete, however one of their players, becomes an out and out star of another team. Melbourne and Collingwood bear the full brunt of the war and tumble down the ladder. The Finals see two new teams in the 4, and Essendon and Richmond rise to the top! All that and more including special guest comments!

In our 1941 episode we try using Zoom to record, as we, like the world are in lock down (So please excuse any lag, strange noises, tinny sounds)
in this episode, we learn more about the effect he war is having on the league. Melbourne’s premiership defense is interrupted by many players leaving to serve. Speaking of the league, they decide another Patriotic premiership is a great way to raise money! Geelong land a new home, amidst some controversy in the pre-season, Richmond’s coaching situation becomes messy. And for the third year in a row Collingwood have to deal with a defection and finally Hawthorn's Stan Spinks gets up to some mischief!

Here it is, a new decade, we are in the 40's!!!!!
Thanks for your patience, with everything happening it was a hard episode to put together, Anna and Tim host, but then you will here Charlie littered throughout, as we added him in later (We also used Ringr for the first time). It is a bit of a hodge-podge, but we really want to keep footy stories alive at the moment!
So, 1940.... With many players rushing to help out and join the war effort, some teams struggle to cope. The VFL introduce an interesting idea to help raise money for the soldiers. Essendon have a new nickname, a new coach and a new game-plan, look for them to be on the up and up after years in the doldrums. Melbourne go from strength to strength but also gain an unwanted record. The race for the top 4 heats up in the last few rounds and Collingwood struggle without Ron Todd and seem to be in free-fall, but there is more controversy to come for them.

With the world alliances quickly disintegrating the Victorian football league faced a changing of the guards…of sorts, with new teams rising to power. Melbourne, having missed finals last year, began to dominate and their big scores ticked over week after week. Hawthorn achieved a first..., and Fitzroy began to show more glimpses of past glories. Several league coaches have been replaced and we will find out their fate. Dick Reynolds takes on a new role at Essendon, and at Collingwood, Jock McHale does something for the last time ever. We have several poems and a song to share and we continue our chat with guest star Danny McGinlay.

Before chatting about the 1939 VFL season we had a good old fashion footy chat with Bulldogs conspiracy theorist and part time banner man/game day joke crafter/ fellow podcaster; Danny McGinlay.
We chat about his role in making banners, and the history of banners in football. We play a fun game that really pushes Kaz and Charlie to their limits.
This episode should be considered as a prelude to the 1939 season!
Many thanks to Danny McGinlay for joining us in this recording. You can find out all about his upcoming comedy shows here http://dannymcginlay.com/

We get stuck into our first season of the 2020 year, looking at 1938. And things kickoff right where we left them, Jock McHale still has great aspirations for Collingwood, but for the 3rd year in a row the tribunal rears its head. Checker Hughes, at Melbourne, is still trying to beat him. Carlton think they finally have the pieces of the puzzle to make it all the way to the grand final. StKilda win their first flag, South complete their fall from grace, Fitzroy begin life without Haydn Bunton. And a schism develops between the leagues in Victoria.

After another year of recording episodes we decided to end the 2019 year with a look back at some of the interesting stories and facts we have discovered about the Australian Football from the years 1921 - 1937.
We also look at some of our shows stats across the year
look at the results of our yearly awards, including things like best goal, best rule idea, best on field incident, and more.
and to finish off we try the almost impossible task of naming our team of the years 1921 - 1937.
Many thanks to everyone who listened in this year, get ready for a big 2020!!!

We are living in a world where Collingwood has won back to back flags to take their tally to 11, head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. Their competition would come from the Checker Hughes led demons, who had in 36 returned to finals, and this team accomplished something they hadn’t since 1921. A mid season trip changes things for Fitzroy (specifically Haydn Bunton). The foreign Legion finally surrender despite a favorite son returning to the club. Carlton begin to slip and Hawthorn are in a spot they never expected….
