Episode 102 - 1971 Part 2

In the second half of the we get deeper into the 1971 season,we have much to discuss, including The absolute fall from grace of the swans, A big player swap happens involving the tigers and saints. One game late in the season is affected by a thick soupy fog, Collingwood hit some late season issues with their captain, Peter Hudson closes in on Bob Pratt’s 150 goals in a season record, and the grand final is one of the most brutal deciders we have discussed in a while. And finally, have we found a successor to dick condon???? All this and more…….

Part 2 will focus on the teams finishing 4th to 1st as well as the brownlow medallist.

Episode 101 - 1971 part 1

Episode 100 - 1970

In our first episode of 2022, we talk about the 1970 episode and we also celebrate our 100th episode!!!! And what a seminal season the 1970 one is, yes the grand final was amazing, but there were also strikes, pay disputes, The ultimate flag hoister, three players reaching the ton in the same season for the 1st time ever, and Norm Smith proves why he is the greatest coach of all time.

Episode 98 - 1969

In the 1969 episode , Carlton were in the news for many different reasons, brawls, goals and sideburns. Waverly park is nearing completion, Tassie johnson achieves a first,   Richmond stumble and consider Tommy Hafeys position at the club,  Norm SMith is back!!and the umpires threaten a strike!!!

Episode 97 - 1968

In the 1968 episode , we have recruiting zones to discuss! Bob Skilton gets better….(if that was even possible). Actually it's a season for individual feats of excellence!!!! Richmond and Hawthorn play out a remarkable game on the Queens Birthday. The Demons and Bombers start new eras under new coaches… with mixed results. And a saints recruit finds himself in hot water!

Episode 96 - The Galah‘s World Tour 1967

In this special episode, we discuss the 1967 football tour to Ireland, by a team dubbed the Galahs. Based on the exccellent documentary The Galah's by Directors Cam Fink, Rob Heath and Tony Wilson, we discuss the players, the uniforms and the games, which have left a lasting legacy on the game of Australian Rules.

Episode 95 - 1967

In the 1967 episode...the sleeping giants Carlton and Richmond fully awake front heir slumber and start to set the pattern for the next decade and a half (at least) we should also mention that their rivalry really starts to take hold this season. Two legends of the game retire by season’s end, while future legend Bulldog murray is back! There is upheaval at Footscray, Brian Dixon has a busy day and we check in with Charlie to see how he is feeling after the demons premiership victory in the present day all this and more.

Episode 94 -Another interview with Nick Richardson

We sat down with friend of the show and author Nick Richardson to talk about his new book which covers the life of Albert Chadwick, a man who had such an incredible life. As well as being a premiership captian/coach at Melbourne he was also a member of one of the most decorated squadrons of the Australian Flying Corps in World War I, a recruiter for the RAAF during World War II, and a skilled businessman who led Victoria’s Gas and Fuel Corporation in the radical transformation. as well has having a hand in the Melbourne Olympics, Moon landing and the Centenarry test.

Episode 93 - 1966

In our 1966 episode, it is another big season, with the saints starting the season on fire looking to bounce back from their grand final loss in 65, things start to go askew at the end of the season. North Melbourne returns to its spiritual home, while Fitzroy ponders whether their future is at Brunswick Street Oval. Richmond and Geelong have new coaches and Collingwood finds themselves in a position they haven't been in for years!!!
