Episode 81 - 1956

In this jam-packed episode, we have a lot to get through, it’s the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, so teams are fighting it out for the Olympic premiership. Also, there were some Aussie rules played at the Olympics! There was also another new initiative, night premiership. A new jumper is suggested at one club, a new nickname at another…. Melbourne is kicked out of their home, Essendon hangs on Coleman's knee, StKilda gets the killer instinct, North falls apart at the seams, and Geelong continues to be a force to be reconned with.  All this and more…….

Our first episode back for 2021! lots to discuss, including...three sons of former players make their debut, Norm smith demands more of Melbourne in a quest to go one better. Les Foot gets frustrated at St Kilda, and speaking of StKilda, they have some issues with the Blues. The moment has come at Fitzro (Kaz is super excited) a spot in the finals comes down to the Dogs and the Bombers in the final round. Lou Richards plays his 250^th game and then has some interesting words with Phonse Kyne. All this and more after the song.

In the 1953 episode, we discuss a big Father-Son selection who makes their debut. StKilda’s season is derailed by injury and unfortunate player actions. One of our favorites is back at South Melbourne.  Footscray, in their up year, gets the win they have been craving for soooooo long. Fitzroy managed to just avoid an embarrassing scoreline and there is an unfortunate number of off-field incidents that affected different teams. All this and more....

In our 1952 season episode, we get right into the VFL’s bold plan to push Australian Rules football on the rest of the country, with NATIONAL DAY!!! John Coleman is back and firing for the Bombers, Geelong continue to dominate with the form that saw them win it in 51! Collingwood seems to be channeling the Machine team and is back in a big way. Mopsy Fraser takes on the Twomey Clan when Richmond play the Pies and South Melbourne and Carlton race for the last finals spot, it all coming down to the very last day of the home and away season
