In Part 1 of the 1973 episode, We explore the 10 year rule in a bit more detail, and look at the big moves that the Kangaroos made in exploiting this rule. Kevin Murray reaches not 1 but 2 milestones this season. The Hawks in a desperate move late in the season call for help from above, and the Cats also look to a past champion to turn their team around.

Geelong are very un geelong like,  and the Bulldogs make a bold appointement, in their new coach. Hudson’s knee takes centre stage and we get  the debut of a player that we actually  watched play live (yes its getting to that time) we also farewell legendary coach Norm Smith. …..all this and more…….

One game late in the season is affected by a thick soupy fog, Collingwood hit some late season issues with their captain, Peter Hudson closes in on Bob Pratt’s 150 goals in a season record, and the grand final is one of the most brutal deciders we have discussed in a while. And finally, have we found a successor to dick condon???? All this and more…….

Part 2 will focus on the teams finishing 4th to 1st as well as the brownlow medallist.

And what a seminal season the 1970 one is, yes the grand final was amazing, but there were also strikes, pay disputes, The ultimate flag hoister, three players reaching the ton in the same season for the 1st time ever, and Norm Smith proves why he is the greatest coach of all time.

In the 1968 episode , we have recruiting zones to discuss! Bob Skilton gets better….(if that was even possible). Actually it's a season for individual feats of excellence!!!! Richmond and Hawthorn play out a remarkable game on the Queens Birthday. The Demons and Bombers start new eras under new coaches… with mixed results.
